Our business is giving

Empress & Ogre is not only in the business of making top quality, fun games and useful utilities, but also in the business of giving. Immediately after deciding to start this business, we decided we needed to donate some of our profits to charities and organizations that help their communities and the world. No less than 10% of our profits will be donated to a different organization each month. We’ve picked the first recipient already – still a secret until the official announcement – and we’d like your thoughts on future recipients.

Which organizations should we share our future profits with? Nominate your favorite charity in the comments.

SwitchIt in beta

SwitchIt, our first game for the iPhone, is now in beta! We still have some bugs to hunt down, final art to add to the game and a few OpenFeint achievements to add. The good news is that beta is one step closer to release and we hope to have a final build ready for Apple’s approval very soon.

Empress & Ogre in business

Empress & Ogre, LLC, went into business on November 12, 2009, with the mission of making creative and exciting casual games and great utilities for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X platforms. Not only that, we’ve decided to do more good in the world than simply making fun products. To do our part in making the world a better place, a minimum of 10% of all revenue generated by our products will be donated directly to charities and other organizations that improve the world. Stay tuned for more details on who will benefit.

Empress & Ogre is a small indie development company. So small that there only two employees – Trina and David Wilcox. Trina is the Empress in command of all things artistic and creative, while David is the Ogre ruling over all things technical. Trina is an artist, writer, and photographer (plus getting a start in radio). David is a life-long programmer geek with 12 years experience in coding everything from major financial applications to commercial games for the Nintendo GBA and Nintendo DS.

Our first iPhone title is a word game with a twist. SwitchIt is due for release in April 2010. You can expect to see ports for other platforms not too long after the iPhone release.
